One of Japan's highest grades of tea comes from Shizuoka, Japan and is slightly astringent but sweet and full-bodied. Tea plants for gyokuro are grown in shade for the last three weeks before harvest to promote nutrient absorption which contributes to the rich flavor of the leaf. This special tea brews an aromatic, complex cup with a sweet flavor.
