A wholly American crop, at one time sassafras ranked second only to tobacco in export volume!

Sassafras root has a warm, distinctive flavor & is still used in old-fashion root beer recipes. Many people also infuse the root in hot water for a comforting, herbal tea. Use 2 teaspoons sassafras per 8 oz. boiling water: steep for 3 minutes or to taste.
