As legend has it this tea grew in such remote reaches of the Wu Yi mountains that it had to be harvested by trained monkeys. This the highest grade of Ti Kuan Yin available and brews a fine reddish-gold cup with orchid or lilac notes.
Oolong tea comes from the same plant as black, green and white teas and only differs in the processing. Some oolongs are quite dark while others brew up quite light. The color of the leaf and cup depends on how long the leaves are oxidized but, as a rule, they are lighter than black teas and darker than green teas. Oolongs are also known for yielding many infusions from the same leaf, sometimes as many as four.
